Moodle: create a single sign-on link to your course

Using an Acrobatiq course in your Moodle class involves two steps:

 
  1. A one-time integration, in which Acrobatiq is added as a tool provider. (ADMIN step)

  2. Adding a single sign-on link in your Moodle class to Acrobatiq. (FACULTY step)

     

Integration (Moodle ADMIN step)

 

Admin must email support@acrobatiq.com to obtain the values needed below.

Ensure that the instructor is enrolled in their Moodle course with the role “Teacher.” To enroll an instructor, enter the course and select “Enrolled users” under Settings > Course administration. Press the “Enroll users” button. Change “Assign roles” to Teacher. Press the “Enroll” button next to the instructor’s name.

Go to Home > Site administration > Plugins > Activity modules > External Tool .

Click “Add external tool configuration.”

Complete these fields:

 

Tool Base URL: courses.acrobatiq.com

  • Consumer Key: {{ PROVIDED BY ACROBATIQ SUPPORT }}

  • Shared Secret: {{ PROVIDED BY ACROBATIQ SUPPORT }}

  • Share the student’s name and email so the instructor can identify students in the grade book and The Learning Dashboard.

  • Force a secure SSL connection. This option is required to protect student privacy. 

 

Click “Save changes.”

Go to Home > Site administration > Plugins > Activity modules > Manage activities.

Confirm that “External Tool” is available to instructors. Look for an opened eye icon in the Hide/Show column. If a closed eye is shown, click the icon to enable external tools.

Adding a single sign-on link in Moodle (FACULTY step)

 

These instructions can be followed only after your Moodle administrator has added Acrobatiq as an external tool provider on your site.
 

Build your Acrobatiq course(s) on the Acrobatiq website and note the course key(s), then click "Sign Out" in the menu at the top right. YOU MUST CLICK “SIGN OUT”; CLOSING THE TAB/WINDOW IS NOT SUFFICIENT.

Enter your Moodle course and click the “Turn editing on” button at the top right.

Locate where you would like to add a link to your course. Click “+ Add an activity or resource.”

Select the “External Tool” activity. Press “Add.”

 

 

 

Activity Name: enter whatever you like, such as "Acrobatiq Statistics Course."

External tool type: Automatic, based on Launch URL

 

Launch URL: enter the URL for your course's Table of Contents page. This URL is unique, based on your course key, so it's different from the URL pictured below.

 
 

 

Share the launcher's name and email.

​Click “Save and return to course.”
